A drunk driving conviction or DUI conviction can result in fines, mandatory participation in alcohol education programs, imprisonment, and much more in a court case. Also, if you get convicted of a DUI your drivers license will be suspended for a period of time.

Aside form the penalties and fees, you may also be required by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety to provide proof of financial responsibility in the form of a SR-22 insurance. The SR-22 must be maintained for a period of 3 years in MS.

After the the period is up, usually, the your DUI is removed from the driver’s record for insurance purposes. However, your DUI however, will remain on your driving record for 5 years for court and punishment purposes.
